Chicago Bears Bring Team Spirit to Friends at SHC

Our hospital is privileged to be located in one of the greatest cities in the world – Chicago. And if Chicagoans are loyal to one thing, it’s their beloved sports teams. The Chicago Shriners Hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) fashioned their five post-operation rooms with Chicago team memorabilia and décor, giving patients and guests a taste of that famous athletic spirit. It’s no wonder then, on April 11th, that folks at SHC were thrilled to receive a visit from Chicago Bears Chairman George McCaskey and mascot Staley da Bear. The duo visited with patients and families during lunch, toured the inpatient unit and PICU, and made sure to greet guests throughout clinic.

Dr. Patel, craniofacial surgeon, even gave Staley a “dental check-up”, much to the delight of young patients in the cleft lip and palate waiting area. Giving out coloring books, autographs, and photos, George and Staley certainly brought smiles and joy to our great hospital. Both were quick to mention how much they enjoyed the visit, and what an impressive facility SHC is. We give a big thank-you to Staley and George, and a loud, “Bear down, Chicago Bears!” to the rest of the team.
